When it comes to picking the details of your wedding, it’s SO easy to get wrapped up in the tiny minutiae and then all of a sudden you’re completely OVERWHELMED. Believe me, I’ve been there. And it sounds silly, but your wedding bouquet is a very vital component! It’s going to be in almost all of your portraits, and it’s a great way to make a statement. If you don’t have a huge budget for flowers, I recommend putting a good portion of it into YOUR bouquet and making simpler versions for your bridesmaids (or none at all if you want that!). You can always use the bouquets for centerpieces as well – it’s a good way to cut down on budget. OR…if you don’t want to spend money on REAL flowers, you have SO many options! You can have paper flowers, wood flowers, faux flowers…honestly, the options are endless!
How to pick your flowers
Having an idea of what you like and don’t like is a great way to start. Do you like textured bouquets or do you like traditional, simple bouquets? Do you like multi colored bouquets or monochromatic? Do you want a huge bouquet or a small one? Do you want to do a floral spray or a bouquet? There are so many questions that you don’t even think about. The biggest help for me during my wedding planning was Pinterest! I pinned a bunch of different bouquets that I loved and that was insanely helpful to my florist. She was able to look at the photos and pull out particular details that were then all combined into the perfect wedding bouquet.
I’ve rounded up some absolutely beautiful and varied wedding bouquets – from traditional hydrangeas to MASSIVE textured bouquets to delicate floral sprays. Like I said, there are so many options to pick from! You can to use accent flowers that match your wedding colors (ie: blue thistle and lavender), or you can mix and match colors to create a colorful palette. There’s no need for it to be overwhelming – it should be fun and honestly, who doesn’t love to spend time looking at pretty flowers?
